New Parkour site in Havering

An exciting and challenging state of the art outdoor parkour facility has been installed in Havering, London.  Local traceurs have won the ability to practice their sport safely, in a challenging and dynamic environment, after their appeal to local council members was accepted earlier this year.

Richard Young, lead youth facilitation manager for LB Havering, was approached by the group who were desperate to introduce a new parkour facility intheir area. The driven traceurs designed a printed a survey with 108 respondents delivering positive feedback, about the idea of a parkour park.

Consultation events were set up with Freemove, the traceurs and LB Havering to ensure these young people had the opportunity to provide design input. The final design was put together by world renowned, Parkour Generations, and installation began and was completed in March 2015.

The opening event which was held on the 10th April, was a great success with traceurs from all over the area joining in with professional sessions from Parkour Generations. Shane, local traceur has stated, “The new Parkour site is a much welcome addition to the investment in Central park. Happy young people! The site will give the opportunity to engage with the councils youth services team.”

It’s not just traceurs who are happy about the new addition to Central Park. Local resident Reece, has explained, “This is much better than doing parkour off of roves and hurting themselves, great to have somewhere for traceurs to train.”
